The College is saddened to hear of the passing of respected leadership expert Robert Re (SPC 1955-63) on 4 April 2025.
Robert completed nine years at SPC as a day student, following in the footsteps of his father Frank who attended in the late 1920s.
Robert connections with SPC were rekindled in recent times as he volunteered his time with the College, sharing his expertise and knowledge as a respected leadership consultant.
鈥淪t Pat鈥檚 was indeed very fortunate to get to know Robert and to work with him so closely over the last 14 or 15 months,鈥� said College Principal Steven O鈥機onnor.
鈥淗e was a beautiful person and a joy to work with. His commitment to the work he was leading us through as staff weas incredible, and his expertise and insights invaluable. It is my intention to continue this work in the months ahead.鈥�
Robert began his association with SPC in 1955 as a day student in the junior class. He was a handy youngster in football, cricket and athletics and was a member of Galvin鈥檚 premiership-winning side in the Oval competition in 1960.
He also played in the Thirds football team in his matriculation year, and was part of the rowing program, as cox for the Fourths crew.
After graduating from SPC, Robert went on to enjoy an extensive career in leadership, management and organisational development. After a 10-year career in senior HR management, Robert commenced his own consulting business, Leadership At Work in 1987.
Robert developed a range of programs aimed at bringing about organisational change and improvement.
Robert drew on his vast experience working with CEOs and senior executives to聽understand the crucial link between great leadership and culture, to staff engagement and organisational effectiveness. He had a long and successful history working across industries including manufacturing, dairy processing transport, supply chain, and health care. He聽worked with organisations and companies聽on various organisational improvement assignments, predominately aimed at lifting the level of engagement and discretionary effort the employees bring to their roles.
Robert was also the published author of the book,聽Leadership At Work 鈥� Letting the Apes Go Free.聽The聽book was a culmination of his more than 30 years鈥� experience and covered the essentials of leadership and management practice.
We extend our deepest sympathy to Robert鈥檚 extended family, including his partner Adele, children Emily, Adam and Michaela, step-children Alana and Julian and 11 grandchildren.
His family held a special celebration in his honour at St Patrick’s College on 16 April 2025.
